The measuring chamber case

The case of DFМ measuring chamber is made from Zinc-Aluminum-Copper alloy (known as Zamak), contrary to popular opinion that it made of aluminum. Zinc quota is about 96% in alloys structure.
Zamak alloys are used in the automotive industry for responsible parts manufacturing: carburetors body casting, pumps, speedometer frames, radiator grills and hydraulic brake parts.
One of the main alloy features is the processing compliance by metal-cutting tools that allows reaching high precision accuracy of responsible details processing to observe strict requirements of the design documentation.
Zamak alloy products get glaze in the air forming a thin dense oxide coat over, which protects the metal from further oxidation. The density of the alloy is about 7000 kg/m3, melting temperature is 380 °C, hardness is 80-90 HB (for comparison soft brass 50-60 HB, solid 100-120 HB).
Zinc-aluminum alloys possess high antifriction properties and are often used as a substitute for bronze in friction knots.
Zamak alloy is well suited for automotive fuel flow meters and determines such qualities of DFM flow meter as:
  • accuracy;
  • stability to deterioration;
  • low weight;
  • manufacturability in production.
In the manufacturing process measuring chamber body is molded under pressure, and then, after the testing for leakproofness, is exposed to machining on high-precision tools with numerical programmed control.

Application

It is supposed to use GPS trackers to organize the fuel consumption accounting system in a company. The application of DFМ counters is a simpler and cheaper way to do it. The fuel consumption accounting system based on the autonomous fuel counter DFМ is easy to install and maintenance. There is no need any additional costs for hardware and software.
Fuel flow counter DFМ is powered by built-in battery. Its resources are enough for more than 24 months of the device continuous operation. The fuel counter DFМ has no buttons – switching on the display is made with a special magnetic key.

  • The unique tampering and intervention protection functions of fuel counter DFМ allow using it in companies, where the chances of vandalism and discredit from some drivers are high.
  • If somebody will try to blow DFМ with the air, the air volume passed through the device would not considered in the counter of consumed fuel, but will get into special counter called “Tampering”.
  • The counter “Interference time” will protect from attempts to influence the device with a magnet. It registers the duration of exposure to the device with the magnetic field.

Operating principle

Fuel gauge DFM has three-dimension ring type measuring chamber. DFМ generates an impulse, when the volume of fuel (which is equal to volume of the measuring chamber) passes through it. For detailed operating principle for every DFM model please visit product pages.

Measured fluids
Fuel flow meter DFМ can be used for consumption measuring of the following fluids:

Other types of liquids with kinematic viscosity from 1.5 to 6 mm2/sec*.
* Application for more viscous liquids is also possible, but the maximum consumption may get less than critical and the pressure on the meter gets down.

Installation
Fuel meters DFМ are mounted into fuel line of vehicles according to approved installation schemes. Ultrasonic flow meter FL 50X4 design

These flow meters are of a compact design with the IP 68 protection class. They are characterised by high measurement accuracy and long-term stability over a wide range of measured values. The meters do not need any external power supply, do not include any moving parts and, have significantly lower hydraulic losses. 
The measurement method utilised by these meters is a single-beam (FL5034) or dual-beam (FL5054) transit-time pulse method based on evaluation of the time needed for an ultrasonic signal to cross the distance between two measuring transductors. In the standard version, the meter measures instantaneous flow rate (in m3/hour) and the total volume of water passed through the meter (in m3) in the given flow direction.
The measured data are converted into passive pulse output signals. The meter output signals can be connected via data transfer systems to remote computer control stations. Flowmeter electronics also includes data storage with various possibility to connect (GSM module, RS232, optical data probe). This feature can be usefull for distance measuring points without electricity.
Flow meters FLOMIC FL 50X4 can effectively save customers costs everywhere, where needs to measure water and is not possible or is expensive to connect to emergy power grid.

Ultrasonic flow meters FLOMIC FL103XUltrasonic flow meters of the type series FLOMIC FL103X (FL1034 – the compact version, FL1035 – with remote electronic unit) are intended for measurement and storage of the measured data of instantaneous flow rate, total volume passed through the meter sensor, of cold and hot water and other liquids of similar properties in a wide range of industrial applications. Optionally, the meters can be provided with pressure gauges to monitor the fluid pressure in the piping.
The FLOMIC FL103X meters are noted for high measurement accuracy and long-term stability over a wide range of measured values. They have equipped by internal battery and they can be installed anywhere without availability of external power. The meters include no movable parts and, compared to conventional flow meters, their hydraulic losses are significantly lower.
The associated electronic unit provides for processing of the sensor signals and visualisation of the values of instantaneous flow rate, total fluid volume passed through the meter sensor and fluid pressure, as well as for archiving of the measured data in specified time intervals in the internal meter memory unit. The archived data can be retrieved either via an optical interface, RS 232 communication line or GSM module for further processing by, for example, a notebook computer. On-line processing of the measured values is also possible using the pulse or current (4 to 20mA) outputs.

Battery-powered ultrasonic water meters of the type series FLOMIC FL102X (FL1024 – compact version, FL1025 – remote version) are intended for industrial and commercial applications in water supply systems where they provide for measurement of instantaneous flow rate, pressure and consumption of water, as well as storage of the measured data.
The meters utilize the principle of different propagation speeds of ultrasonic signals if directed in and against the direction of water flow. Ultrasonic water meters are noted forhigh accuracy and long-term parameter stability over a wide range of measured flow values. The FLOMIC water meter does not need any external power source, no moving parts and, compared to conventional meters, significantly lower hydraulic losses.

Water meter electronics functions

Model SL1188P is a Portable Ultrasonic flow Meter. It  collects Flow Data via a TPC (Tablet PC), and uses “UFM” software to download the Flow Data.  The SL1188P Portable Ultrasonic Flow Meter consists of flow sensors  (ultrasonic), a flow transmitter and a  Tablet Personal Computer  (TPC).  The Model SL1188P Portable Ultrasonic Flow-meter is  the only flowmeter  for  which operation is  a  specialty between  the  electronics and operational  interface.
